The CCA GC Handicap Doubles tournament was held on Sunday 22 November 2020 at Fendalton Park Croquet Club.

20 players making up 10 pairs took part in the GC Doubles Handicap tournament on a day that had a variety of weather conditions – rain, wind, sun, more rain and wind etc. All credit to the players who braved the elements in their wet gear and continued playing in some dreadful conditions. The sportsmanlike attitude was great and the afternoon ended with some sunshine.

Play was two blocks of 5 pairs with a playoff game at the end from players in each block.

Neville Turner and Ivan Hayward (Rangiora) won 4 games in their block as did Alister and Hilda Newey (Rangiora) in their block. The deciding game was won by Alister and Hilda with Neville and Ivan then being the runners up. Third place was fiercely contested by Gae Keng and Joan Bradford (Fendalton) against Owen Evans and Mel Stevenson (Cashmere) with Gae and Joan taking third place.

Thanks to all the players who took part – without them there would have been no competition.
