This year we halved the team size for AC Interclub and this was received well, with 16 teams entered. We had good participation in GC interclub as well, though the Atkins competition had noticeably fewer participants than previous years. We rebranded the Twilight event as a Premier competition and ran it before Christmas. This avoided issues with playing in the dusk which had been an occasional problem the previous year.
There were remarkably few wet days and to my knowledge no cancellations all season!
We successfully ran a full tournament calendar. Thanks you to all those who stepped up and managed/refereed these events.
This year we ran two new events – the GC Open Doubles and Open Singles, both of which were well patronised.
Overall the numbers of entries were down, with the Silver Badge/Arthur Ross/Don Reyland competitions having particularly low numbers, we think partly from competition fatigue. Next year we plan to piggy-back the Silver Badge onto the Grades events.
While there have been encouraging signs we really do need a new batch of managers and referees to step forward.
Club Captain Meetings
This year we held three meeting with Club Captains to discuss items of relevance to competitive play and the competition programme. These were well received and we plan to continue the practice this coming year.
